JUMU

Updated: Dec 22, 2025

Jurena Muñoz Lagunas is a Berlin-based artist with Peruvian-Chilean roots. Shamanism, rituals, myths, and dance — understood as connections between human beings, the spiritual world, and nature — are central elements in her work. These themes inspire her masks, canvases, and countless murals.

Deeply moved by the creative genius of Indigenous communities, Muñoz incorporates cultural influences from many parts of the world, translating them into patterns, colors, and techniques. She creates her own surreal and spiritual worlds, marked by bold forms and a vibrant palette grounded in her Latin American heritage.

Born in Hanover, Germany, in 1990, and raised between Palma de Mallorca, Latin America, and Germany, Muñoz began her path studying fashion design. Today, her murals can be found on walls across the globe, including in Canada, Hamburg, Mexico, Paris, Munich, Albania, Vienna, and Turkey.

In 2025, JuMu took part in the 6th edition of the Vulica Brasil festival in Brasília, creating the mural “Juntos Somos Raiz, Flor e Futuro” on the façade of the iconic Teatro Dulcina in the Conic neighborhood.
