VB VI — 2025

From August 11 to 24, the capital will be fully dedicated to the Vulica Brasil Festival, the first major international urban art festival to take over Brasília, transforming public spaces into a living gallery. The project brings together artists from Brasília, other cities in Brazil, and other countries. This year’s event marks the festival’s debut in Brasília, bringing this street art format to the city after five editions in Minsk (Belarus) between 2014 and 2019, when an abandoned area was transformed into a cultural landmark, nicknamed “Rua Brasil.”
abOuT
The Vulica Brasil Festival is the first major international urban art event in Brasília — debuting on August 11 with murals, workshops, and social actions by artists from Brasília, Brazil, and around the world.

“Vulica” means “Street” in Belarusian, hence the name “Vulica Brasil” (“Street Brazil”). The festival was born out of a desire to value Brazilian urban art and promote cultural exchanges. It all started on Oktyabrskaya/Kastrychnitskaya Street, in an old industrial neighborhood of Minsk. Over the course of the festivals, Vulica has created more than 50 urban interventions: murals, sculptures, installations, paintings on trams, subway cars, factory chimneys, as well as tactical urbanism, environmental, and social actions. The project aims to show the contemporary face of Brazil to the world through public art, accessible to everyone, created by artists from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and tribes.
In 2025, the 6th edition of the Vulica Festival will pay tribute to the modernist capital, whose unique architecture and cultural energy provide the ideal foundation for public art. The planned interventions will focus on the Conic, a symbolic icon of Brasília’s culture, and will extend through the Setor Comercial Sul, strengthening the emerging cultural axis in downtown Brasília, in partnership with SESI LAB, a key element in the artistic vibrancy of that area in recent years.

Talk “Bohemia and Urbanism: from the 19th Century to Contemporary Brasília” with Marcelo Teixeira
“Bohemia and Urbanism: from the 19th Century to Contemporary Brasília” traces the history of urban pleasures to question the present and imagine possible futures.
Using the figure of the bohemian as a starting point, architect and sociologist Marcelo Teixeira guides the audience from 19th-century Paris to contemporary Brasília, revealing how nocturnal desire shapes (and is shaped by) architecture, public policies, and social conflicts.
From a critical and transdisciplinary perspective, the talk poses an urgent question: Who has the right to desire at night? It shows that planning the city also means planning for pleasure, freedom, and dissent — for those who think about culture, creativity, economy, and urbanism beyond the obvious.
